HI MID4 3+3 | Tolhurst × HI | Thunderbolt Technology
Three boards in one.
The MID4 3+3 is the next chapter for the MID6, the best-selling board in the range. It was built directly from the MID6: scaled, refined, and fitted with the 3+3 fin system. The result is a mid-length you can ride as a true quad, a true twin, or an asym.
It keeps the wave-catching ability and forgiving feel the MID6 is known for. Every change from the MID6 was made for a reason, and together they open the design up to more surfers.
The 3+3 Fin System
- Quad: The black plugs run a true quad.
- Twin: The white plugs run a true twin.
- Asym: Run a twin on the toe-side rail and a quad on the heel-side rail.
Trying a twin for the first time on a mid-length can feel like a bigger commitment than it does on a shortboard. The 3+3 takes that risk away. You can switch setups whenever you like, and you can try asym without buying a dedicated asym board.
What’s Changed from the MID6
- Tighter nose: A quarter inch is taken out of the width at one foot from the nose. That makes the board more comfortable in the pocket and in tighter sections, and it doesn’t cost any wave-catching ability.
- Flat entry with rail relief: Billy’s signature rail relief runs underfoot. It lets the board carry a more performance-oriented rail without the stickiness of deep concaves, so it’s forgiving enough to ride with extra volume and free enough to ride well when you go above it.
- Four channels instead of six: Fewer channels open up the tail for the 3+3 setup, with no noticeable loss of drive. If anything, the board feels a little freer through fat, slow sections, which is where you want it on a mid-length.
- Extended sizing: The MID6 runs from 6'4" to 7'10". The MID4 matches it in the mid sizes and goes down to 5'10".
Who It’s For
- 5'10" / 6'0" / 6'2": Higher-performance surfers and smaller riders who want MID6 DNA without the length.
- 6'6" / 6'10" / 7'4": A natural companion to the MID6. These sizes suit riders who love their MID6 but want a twin option or want to try asym.
