Designed for the fast, shifting walls of beach breaks, it blends the proven DNA of Firewire's iconic Spitfire with modern updates tuned for today's most explosive surfers. As Dan explains, "surfers as a population are generally getting better. And boards are evolving similarly, they're getting more refined too."

The Spun Honey is based on Dan's popular Spitfire model, a short, compact groveler with the wide point a touch towards the tail from center but further forward to the nose than the Sweet Potato, with a tapered diamond tail. Underneath, the bottom contour is a pretty aggressive double concave set within a solid single concave, similar to the bottom of the Sweet Potato, with the double running further forward to the nose than most boards. This double concave bottom contour delivers speed, lift, and fluid rail-to-rail performance, benefits Dan learned from his S Boss and Boss Up shapes with a similar bottom. Dan's included his famous step rail from the Spitfire, also featured on the Mashup, that allows him to hide a lot of volume in the center of the shape while maintaining bladey, knifey rails.

In terms of where the Spun Honey fits in Dan's range of shapes, it offers more performance than his Sweet Potato but less performance than his Dominator 2.0. Whether you're groveling gutless waves, threading shorebreak barrels, or launching into air sections, the Spun Honey delivers a fast, forgiving ride with a spicy edge - an ideal everyday board for surfers pushing performance in weak, everyday conditions.

Wave Range

The Spun Honey is built for weak beach breaks, punchy everyday surf, and fast-changing conditions. It performs best in small to medium surf where speed generation and quick direction changes are essential.

Construction

The board uses Firewire’s Helium core construction, engineered for lightweight responsiveness and durability. Helium technology combines fast-reacting flex with precise rail control to create an energetic feel underfoot.

The glassing schedule features a 4oz E-glass deck with high-density composite skin and additional reinforcement. Boards over 40 litres include an extra layer of 4oz E-glass for added strength and durability.

Fin Setup

The Spun Honey comes standard as a 5-fin setup, allowing riders to switch between thruster and quad configurations depending on conditions and riding style.

Recommended Fins

Recommended setups shown include the Firewire Spun Honey Fin Set as the primary option, with the Firewire Velox Fin Set listed as an alternative configuration.
